Yeah those are the things I read. Seems like a big stretch to take offense on that.

I mean, the black men who say "posse" are old too by now, probably the same age as Phil if they remember the era of cowboy movies where the Good Guys use the term. It's about the most neutral word for an entourage you're gonna find. Especially amongst the old white fellas who grew up playing cowboys and indians edit "White Settlers V. Native Tribes" in their backyards.

"Posse" "boys" "crew" "entourage" "hangers on" "leeches" what positive verbiage does Carter expect for the group of dudes who earn their living by being childhood friends with the famous guy? Haha

Just call them his friends then or his business partners.

Seems like Lebron's trying to defend his friends here and their accomplishments outside of his influence which I applaud him for. Sure Lebron being the greatest basketball player of all time gave them a huge leg up but sounds like his old friends have built legitimate successful businesses that leverage off of Lebron. I think he's trying to point out that Phil Jackson would probably use different language to refer to a rich white CEO who hires a bunch of b-school friends to run businesses for him.

Nah I would easily refer to an entourage, a group of people who depend on one single person's celebrity for their economic and social lives, in an insulting demeaning manner. I've done it myself on this very page? It's a weird relationship, paid friend to some of the world's richest teenagers. I'd probably think even less of it if I was in some sort of management position.

Yo like LeBron's whole point was that your view is hosed up and wrong and that's what he's trying to correct. LeBron himself is saying that he's a client of Maverick and Rich Paul and that they have built successful businesses on their own.

A guy who is supposed to be the general manager of an NBA team should know that as well

I think we can all agree that Maverick Carter, Rich Paul, LeBron James, Savannah James, or even Lebron James Jr could do a better job of running the Knicks than Phil Jackson.

Phil Jackson gave Joakim Noah $72 million.

The Knicks signed Joakim Noah to a four-year, $72 million contract and their best lineup may be without him on the floor.

That was certainly the case in Monday’s 93-77 victory over the shorthanded Mavericks, when Kristaps Porzingis moved to center, Noah took a seat on the bench, and New York immediately went on a game-breaking 30-10 run.

The small lineup – which featured Carmelo Anthony at power forward and Justin Holiday at small forward — was more in tune to the pace-and-space style of the modern NBA, and Noah understood why coach Jeff Hornacek made the move.

It's not in line with what other good coaches are doing. Take a look at the leaders in minutes per game among Centers over the last half decade or so. It's a who's who in guys with injury problems.

Gasol missed the second half of last season with a broken foot. Not sure he'd be the go-to example of a big guy handling big minutes in today's NBA.

I said I don't mind it as much for wings. I think it's a dumb strategy as you go into the playoffs against good teams who have more rested players. I don't think it was a coincidence that many of Thibs playoff teams were riddled with injuries and gassed come playoff time here.

And you're not arguing with me about this. You're arguing with coaches like Popovich and Kerr who feel this stuff matters. I guess they'll continue to ignore "reality" too.

Looks like Pop played Duncan similar minutes until he got old?

Pretty great Bulls conspiracy theory courtesy of Reddit that has me all 'I WANT TO BELIEVE'

quote:

Holy poo poo. Please tell me someone is watching Mike and Mike on ESPN. Ryen Russillo* basically came on the show and said that Jimmy Butler and the Bulls FO are at odds and thats why there are so many Jimmy to Celtics rumors. Russillo* said basically that before Jimmy was a restricted free agent after his 3rd year he was averaging 13 ppg and the bulls FO offered him a 4 yr/44 mil extension to which Jimmy declined. The Bulls FO then told him that'd they'd start TONY SNELL over him and give SNELL jimmy's minutes and give Jimmy the minutes Snell got off the bench to hurt his numbers and crash his value in the upcoming free agency. Thibs caught wind of this and basically said "gently caress that, I'm starting Jimmy" and Jimmy averaged 20ppg and got cashed out. This is why Jimmy and Thibs are so close, because Thibs had his back and this is also supposedly one of the reasons why Thibs and the FO had issues. So now Jimmy has this distrust for the Bulls FO and also distrusts Fred Hoiberg* because Jimmy sees Fred as an extension of the FO. And then Wade came over and Jimmy basically told Wade everything that happened and wade sympathized with him because of all the gently caress poo poo he dealt with in MIA which adds to why Jimmy and Wade are so close
Also Russillo* said he trusts this source that told him all that very much
Edit: spelling errors and poo poo

But without that we wouldn't have the 73-win Warriors led by the first ever unanimous MVP blowing a 3-1 lead in the Finals so really Russell Westbrook owned the Warriors pretty hard

You're allowed to make fake honorable bowing motions and clothesline any celestials you see on the court; you may not under any circumstances fall into a senile fugue and refer to Magic Johnson as "some black guys"; the one drop rule applies to Blake Griffin but not Steph Curry; these are all facts and deeply understood histories known to all true NBA fans, please do not try to impose your strict outsider monolith morality upon our functional ecosystem of historical associations.

I find bowing a lot less insulting than Golden State's terrible Chinese New Year jerseys
