As a response to the Will Smith thing. It is interesting that some people dont like seeing violence unless it has gone through an intermediary of some description,or how violence is only acceptable if its done by professionals.

NotJustANumber99 posted:interesting that you can't just have an opinion rather obliquely critique other people's. Oh no I do find it interesting. Personally I don't know how to feel about what the correct level of violence should be. But I just find it really interesting how the way in which we see violence and do not consider it as such can change when it is being done by "unalloyed" folks. Like I personally do not know how to reconcile my distaste for warfare and the fact that I feel that violence can be used in a good way.

Managerial books are, by and large, written to sell themselves, not to provide useful information. I do wish there was more of a guide to a lot of things in life but, much like diet books and exercise books, there seems to be a large amount of chaff around interpersonal skills books.

Cars are bad but I have to drive one, as I have to work in the lead mine for tour guiding stuff. Didn't help that yesterday after a lovely day out I had to go onto a dual carriage way and had a bloke on a bike cut very close to me. I had checked and rechecked the road but it's left me pretty shaken up and angry at myself for not seeing him.

Still don't need a car baybay I, unfortunately, wouldn't have a job or be able to take my girlfriend to her work in hospitals without my car. Much as I dislike it. Also if you take a bus it's around about a 5 pound trip there and back. Car costs a whack to get, but ours was old so car tax was 35 quid for the year. But it costs more in transport to bus to places than it does in parking fees in a lot of cases. Take Edinburgh. It would have cost me and the gf 300 pound to get 2 tickets there and back, whereas a car trip cost us about... 65 for the city centre parking and fuel? Working in tourism also means that I can't get the bus if I'm working at the lead mine for some of it.

Oh dear me posted:It would definitely be cheaper for me not to have a car, but in rural areas there are typically not enough taxis to rely on like that. I mean even a taxi ride of 15 mins cost about 25 quid one evening when we didn't want to catch the buss, so it also depends on where you are.

I've gotten a Fiat 500 that has been wonderful, even with swapping all the tires and getting the brakes changed. Cost of 1500 initially, and then even with all the adds, it comes to about 1800.
