I can remember a song from around 1996, where the chorus is "Boom shalock, boom boom shalock, something something something". I've never been able to track it down because all any search turns up is House of Pain and it's not House of Pain.

A friend of a friend had the album and I want to say the band name had "boys" in it. Maybe.

That's not it. It was sort of indie/alternative rock, but then wasn't everything in 1996?

The video was in black and white and you can see the band playing. The singer was a bald dude. The rest of the video was about homeless army veterans.

Sounds weird, but i liked the song.I suspect it`s an american thrash metal band from the nineties.

Thanks.

Can you give us any more to go on?

If it helps you narrow the search at all, Disturbed, Pantera and Anthrax all had bald singers and some degree of social conscience.

So there's this song, I must have heard it when I was 8 or 9 (so late 90s). It was a UK dance channel type song with a Chinese melody in the background. The music video featured (I think) a sumo wrestler, a cowboy and maybe a kung fu fighter.

I know the melody but I seriously doubt anyone's going to get this. I've been looking for it for the past 8 years and no luck so far.

edit: Even if you don't know it, how the hell do I find it? I was thinking of listening to every UK dance compilation CD from 1997-2003. Good idea?

I have another song I really want to find, but I only remember the music video. It had a black woman being driven around a city in a taxi while looking out the window and singing. Pretty sure it was by a non-American group.

Finally, I’ll repost the other song I was looking for:

Also, I heard another song at H&M about 2 months ago. It had an upbeat instrumental part [with a strong beat] and then a male voice came in and started rapping. The lyrics went something like this:

"show them what you got"
"make it easy"
"all the things (that?) you do"
"yeah it's true"

Google, iTunes, and YouTube have been unhelpful so far.

I heard some Dizzee Rascal today and was reminded of this post, looking at it again, the song doesn't really fit those lyrics but just in case, check out Wot U On.

Reading your post again though, I realise I'd totally missed the first part about the taxi and now I can totally see a woman singing in one of those yellow New York cabs but can't for the life of me remember the song. I want to say Massive Attack maybe? Someone from the mid to late 90s. drat you :argh:

I've got an interesting one for you guys, maybe someone knows this. About a year or two back, I stumbled upon a link I think it was to a documentary on YouTube (or it may have just been an article with links to YouTube) about this girl band that was objectively the worst band ever. They were all related, and I guess it was suppose to be some kind of Andrews Sisters type deal, and they managed to record a demo tape, but I don't think they ever got released to the public at large, precisely because the music was so indecipherably bad. As in the three girls would be playing their instruments all out of time, out of key, and singing and playing as though each girl was doing her own song. The studio engineer was even quoted as saying something like "At one point one of the girls stopped and said 'oops, I messed up that last bit,' and all I could think was 'how could you tell?'" So they've remained largely obscure, but apparently have a recent very niche cult following amongst Dadaists and eccentric music collectors, claiming the girls were way ahead of their time with whatever they were trying to accomplish.

I believe the band was around in the 60s or 70s though maybe as early as the 50s. I think the song they featured in the documentary was something like "Mister [_____]" Mister Furry or Mister something silly sounding. And it really does sound like each instrument is playing a different song while the one girl sings. I apologize that this is more of a "Help me identify a totally obscure band nobody has ever hear of before".
Was it this article about The Shaggs?

Edit: gently caress me, this is the audio equivalent of watching a car crash - why can't I stop listening to it?

So there's a song I found on youtube a couple years ago(I think) which I am totally unable to find now. It was a japanese noise sorta deal, quite fast/loud, harsh vocals, and the picture(album cover I'm assuming) used for the video was a few guys in front of a red background wearing vaguely futuristic, mostly white costumes which looked like they were made of plastic with helmets that had... cat ear shapes on top? Because japan, I guess. For some reason when I try to think of the name of it/the group/the album/whatever, the only word that comes to mind is 'Reset' but I don't think that's actually right and it hasn't helped me find it.
