Stranger in Paradise Final Fantasy Origin (some combination of those words) has a terrible loot treadmill, and the auto-recycle gear option is nowhere near good enough to make up for it. I think I spend more time sorting through gear than playing the game.

Minor gripe, but it's been 12 years since super meat boy came out, and it's stupid that games like Neon White don't have a one button restart. If I'm going to iterate on the best time and the restart after the smallest mistake, restart shouldn't take me back out to the 'play this level?' menu. Just make it a single button push!

Good point and one that I forgot--provide variable movement speeds through a speed selector or modifier keys (ctrl/shift/space). I'll preface this by saying that I'll play anything that Ryu Ga Gotoku puts out, and overall I'm enjoying my time with Judgement. And I understand that a lot of the Yakuza games are about the city as a character, taking up time to add flavor without much game benefit. I do like stuff like hanging out in the smoking areas, wandering around to Tak's haunts to find out who has a new case for me, or checking out my office to see what my landlady has cooked me today--but this isn't the 'favorite things' thread, so... Hidden object minigames in first person. They aren't interesting, the first person view is a distracting choice, and because I don't play with headphones finding a cat based on an intermittent meow can be an exercise in frustration. The detective parts in general feel pretty boring, all paths lead to the correct answer. Pick the right key to open the door--just why? Maybe if this was ever used during a chase sequence as a way to avoid an additional encounter, but EVERY time I want to go to the casino or my office? It's not difficult, just a time waster. Maybe instead of highlighting the correct key, the skill upgrade should just have Tak pick the correct key for you and skip the minigame if you've opened the lock before. The enemy encounter rate feels ridiculously high, same goes for the gang leader appearances. I'm 23 hours in, currently on chapter 7, and while I enjoy the combat system I am completely done with random street fights. Normally there is an item or something you can find to reduce encounter rate, but I haven't had any luck in finding such a thing in Judgement. Tailing and chase minigames--occasionally refreshing, but be prepared to do these a LOT if you're doing all the side stories. Most seem to involve at least one, if not both. The tailing minigame in particular has 6 different upgrades you can buy to make it easier, but you are still slowly following someone through the city and pausing to check your phone while they spend 30 seconds peering around for pursuers. Not leaving Kamurocho. I didn't realize how cramped and rote the city begins to feel when you spend every chapter there, and I appreciate the Yakuza games a lot more now for usually taking place in at least two different locations. A good chunk of this is probably because I am mainlining the side cases as soon as they open up--I'm sure someone taking a more leisurely stroll through the main story may not have issues with a lot of these. I'm looking forward to Lost Judgement, I think people seem to really like it? Although I heard they got rid of mortal wounds, a mechanic that I hated at first but grew on me as I realized it was just conditioning my fighting style.

I had this issue before the Majima fight. Was able to hang on barely, scraping the boss's health down slowly until I got unlucky. After that I just grabbed a cheat engine table and boosted myself to the recommended level before major fights. Much better.

SMT 5 - there is no way, short of searching up a guide, to determine appropriate content for my level when it's all mixed in to the open world. I guess maybe I'm supposed to trial and error and flee if it seems too difficult? I really hate that I attempted the first fiend fight way too late. Matador was a thrilling challenge in 3, in 5 I stomped him in 2 turns (oops). I never wondered if I was doing something too early or too late in 3, but 20 years later I feel like I'm missing the intended difficulty curve.

My issue with freelancer is that safe house xp grinds far too slowly especially post lvl 50. It takes so much work for me to unlock the next Agent 47, homemaker milestone.

I'm entirely willing to chalk this up to me not playing crpgs, but I had a real dummy moment in BG3. Early in the game I shot a rock suspended on a rope down to break open a cracked slab and access a crypt. Super cool, the rock was highlighted as a target and it was a fun alternate way in. A little later I come across a potential party member suspended in a cage. There is a bow on the ground, but the cage is right at the top of the screen, seemingly pretty high, and the cage itself doesn't highlight--the character does. Having accidentally killed a party member before, I didn't want to kill her or ruin reputation and lock myself out of something so instead I start looking around for a way to get up higher. Quest completed, you have abandoned X. I go back, no sign of her. Gone. And of course no autosave... Googling it, I WAS supposed to shoot her down and I guess I just totally misread the situation but now I'm nervous what else I might accidentally gently caress up and miss by being a total novice to these types of games.
