I'm not sure how excited I am about Tynion, but I'm digging Detective Comics as apparently a team book with Batman, Batwoman, Cass, Steph, and Tim. What happened to Harper, though?

At least Tynion more or less gets Cass's personality, so we won't have to deal with her trying to eat Steph's hamster.

Not to mention that a huge problem with Countdown was that it was literally counting down to an event where the creator had absolutely no interest in tying his story to the events in Countdown, and actively asked them not to do many of the plot points.

I'm just surprised they didn't transplant Cyborg from the Teen Titans cartoon wholecloth into the DCU. Seriously I'm trying to think of a better character rehabilitation in general than Cyborg pre-and post- the Teen Titans cartoons and coming up short. Maybe, ironically, Starfire from Teen Titans as well?

Even in the cartoons, he was a pretty good supporting character, but almost all the episodes and storylines focusing on him kind of sucked. No one can seem to move past the rote "AM I MAN, OR AM I MACHINE!?!?" storyline.

I can only imagine what's going to happen if some parent buys their kid a copy of the Flintstones, only for them to be treated to the horrors of capitalism, PTSD war flashbacks, and Wilma's incredibly dark backstory.

Yeah, I actually like the proportions of his women, even if it is super cheesecake-y most of the time. Which makes it even sadder that he's such an unlikable, whiny rear end in a top hat who is probably drawing hate-art of Rucka at this very moment.

Cass is the best, but Cass and Steph together is the GOAT.

My only complaint about Detective is that there hasn't been nearly enough Cass and Steph friendship-ness so far. I don't care about re-establishing Tim and Steph's romance at all, just give me back Cass and Steph being awesome best friends.

During one of the many, many, many ill-conceived Teen Titans storylines, Wonder Dog turned into a huge hell hound because of reasons (something related to Ares? I really don't remember) and ate Wendy's brother and crippled her. This was considered about par for the course for Titans.

He's dead, Jim. But seriously, that's the only way I can see this going, what with the rumor that DC wants to kill off another Robin, the final cover of this arc being everyone looking sad at a random bad dude who's clearly a placeholder for another character, and the next arc centering around Steph being mad at Batman.

Maybe Tim will fake his death or something? I doubt Tynion will leave him gone for long, since he's his favorite character.

Too close to call with Silencer, Sideways, and Damage. I would say Immortal Men is in the same boat, but there are people out there who inexplicably love Jim Lee's art, so who knows. I don't see the other three selling based on the strength of their creative teams, though.

A think a lot of it comes from trying to find ways to make those characters useful on the team and not redundant. You've already got Batman, Batwoman, Clayface, and Cass who could probably handle just about any threat, so the others have to have their own niche. I think they probably should have gone the route of Steph having a bunch of weird gadgets like her gooperangs from her Batgirl series rather than just being tech genius lite, but it's better than her sitting on the sidelines because Cass already beat up everyone for her I guess.

Detective Comics was predictable and not too entertaining with just how dour it was. Basil can't get their absolution the way they want because they did something awful and traumatizing to a loved one, Anarky (who isn't black anymore/is white again??) is painted as a condescending brocialist who has a terrible secret that somehow undermines the communist Utopia they built under a literal ground zero for a terrorist attack, and Stephanie storms off just before Bruce can explain that Tim's alive--a zealous AI that achieved omniscience said so--so you can stop being so darn irrational and falling in with the wrong crowd

I didn't care at all about the Steph/Anarky storyline, but if you'd told me before Rebirth that Cass and Clayface would have a very sweet, moving friendship, I don't think I would have believed you.

Tynion's been implying that the Orphan codename in temporary, so we may see her get a new name/costume eventually.

Speaking of Detective Comics, I'm a little down on it lately. I'm so tired of the future Tim and Colony stuff, and judging by solicits, they're gonna be the focus of the book for the foreseeable future. I wish Tynion would do an issue like the latest Batman where it's just the characters hanging out, because the small moments with characters like Cass and Clayface interacting are the strongest stuff in the book, but he seems focused on making everything an epic storyline that never lets up.
