Trump is just mad at Barack and Michelle because they have been making fun of him. It's a petty attempt at personal revenge and has nothing to do with Hillary. I just wish there was something that Jimmy Carter could do to divert Trump even more. I'm sure there's some old submarine mate that doesn't like Carter that Trump could bring to the debate.

pseudanonymous posted:This is pretty lazy analysis. The number of potential voters has gone up in like every election, and the turnout was incredibly high in 2020. Regular republicans inspire far less passion than trump. I’m not saying the GOP is finished but their killing their own supporters in job lots right now, they’re going to really have to suppress the vote to win. Turnout was greatest in 60 years, and during that time voting age population has grown almost 2.5 fold from 109 million to 257 million. Also both parties' spending in 2020 elections was something like never seen before, final figure was over 14 billion USD. With nearly three times total campaign budget compared to 2016 you also do expect turnout % to increase somewhat, even if a lot of it goes to negative campaigning which is supposed to have the opposite effect.

There's a raging loving pandemic in this country right now, and the reason for it is the choices of these people, and they overwhelmingly made those choices because they're horrible selfish stupid bigots, not because "they're mentally ill". I feel like people naturally see insanity as the opposite of rationality, which it is not. You can be sane but still drat irrational. Most of us probably are in some ways. We just usually don't recognise our errors, especially when we have confined ourselves to an echo chamber. I don't think we can say that people have 100% agency in what they believe and fear as if they were Vulcan philosophers, it comes down to some very primitive reactions.

Freepers also don't realize that Spartacus script was written by a blacklisted communist, Dalton Trumbo. Trumbo had continued his career with pen names after his sentence in 1950 but at the time of Spartacus he was finally given credit for his work again.quote:Howard Fast was originally hired to adapt his own novel as a screenplay, but he had difficulty working in the format. He was replaced by Dalton Trumbo, who had been blacklisted as one of the Hollywood 10, and intended to use the pseudonym "Sam Jackson". Although there is this post script that makes you appreciate how lovely some people are: quote:In 1993, Trumbo was posthumously awarded the Academy Award for writing Roman Holiday (1953). The screen credit and award were previously given to Ian McLellan Hunter, who had been a front for Trumbo. A new statue was made for this award because Hunter's son refused to hand over the one his father had received. You have an Oscar that you didn't win yourself and actually your dad only got for being a front for the actual writer. Of course you would never give it away.

He’s still going to win and the parties aren’t bound to follow the results of their primaries. Now, if he were taken off the general ballot in some states, that would be delicious for freeper-tear gourmands. If he can be disqualified from primaries in a few states and it stays, he could be disqualified in more states. And if he can be barred from primary ballots, then he can and will be barred from election ballots, too. Presumably GOP would not choose a candidate that they know is ineligible. Not that that is likely to happen, but until supreme court makes its decision it's something to relish/panic about.
