I'm pretty sure everybody called it by now.... ..but Citizen Con is most likely gonna feature some sort of "player built town" . Crib off those Dual Universe guys. Show you what some players (level designers) built in their own parcel on some forgotten world. Their "dynamic truck stop space station generator" is just using assets from the "player housing" database, with exteriors being the space station. Long story short, they're gonna sell you bases, prefabs and probably roll out another 1k of those Pioneer homeworld ripoff ships to boot. ... if they sell oil rigs or "refineries" that you can place on your 50 dollar land plot I 'm pledging on the spot. Will take the Star Wars name of "Parp Wildcat" Callsign : "Frackmaster"

So, as someone who hasn't played any CR game and is just here for the lulz, can any of you gentlegoons tell me what exactly is SQ 42 trying to be? Except bad, that is. I mean, I've been reading back into the thread and looking at their marketing material, and I still can't figure it out. From what I can tell , they're making some sort of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, that's liniar and has spaceships.

Technically, the poop-stool is the best thing connected to Star Citizen to come out this year. -does not exist just in JPEG form -actually does its intended function (hopefully) and is not just a overpriced brick with a spaceship-code attached to it. -Probably didn't take 8 years to develop On another note, I think we'll start seeing the crazies stand out a lot more as more and more of the "average joe " backers either leave or refund. You can see something similar with I dunno.... let's go with Sonic the Hedgehog. Once his games started getting worse and worse, most of the community died off and the only people left invested were the die-hard fans. The ones who were sane and well-integrated people went off and did their own thing, with the most notable being Sonic-Mania . The others are the ones who clog up Deviant Art with creepy (technically underage) fetish porn. The "Sonic Mania" star citizen fans will probably be the ones who'll bring us : "Star Citizen : A Starfield total conversion mod". The others.... well you can see them right now. Also, in the interest of fair representation, I'm sure not all these people are crazies. Montoya is a youtube shill trying desperately to drum up controversy for his channel. Yeah.... there's no way this "game" is getting to 2019 without the networking tech. They just can't kick it down the road to 2019. I'm pretty sure even the most dug-in whale will make the simple connection: "Crap server tech that is never improved means no Idris in the PU, like ever." It doesn't matter what the thing at Cit Con will be. No network tech means no ship sales and probably half their whales refunding. Another year of "Meshed servers are right around the corner guys!!" will not cut it. I'm pretty sure even the streamers know that.

Ironically, "the sliding scale of Star Citizen skepticism" is something I used to refer to me, in chat. The whole "with us or against us, firm believer or Derek Smart alt" thing he was pulling was pissing me off, and I simply explained that there are various degrees of "scam" that go beyond "Yo , Chris is gonna take the money and run off to Mexico, for realz". Despite what shitposting I've done here in the forum, I think they are , in fact working on a game. But I also think they're doing a terrible job at it. And more importantly, I think in the end it doesn't matter because the huge amount of shady behavior the company engaged in will make whatever "Game" comes out of this irrelevant. Battlefront 2 was objectively a pretty decent game. It doesn't matter because it was tied to one of the most heinous and exploitative marketing schemes in recent gaming, and therefore, is in fact complete garbage. By the way, I still don't get if these people refuse to understand how some outsider might think this is a scam (due to fear that it might be true), or are they really that dumb. EDIT: Someone should explain to them the whole "hire a construction team to build you a house, and they drag it on while charging you by the day" analogy. If I was Chris Roberts..... Serious answer: Find some chinese/korean publisher wanting to dip their toes into western pseudo-mmo market, and offload the licence to them . If the Crytek thing is preventing that (which more than surely is) agree to full discovery and take the raw end of the deal and settle. Less serious answer: Pull what the System Shock reboot guys did and do a massive overblown "apology " . Crunch whatever I have of a dev team to pull out a MVP, or rather a halfway working empty sandbox that I can use as an environment to sell ships in. Get MVP out the door ASAP. Fire every non critical employee I have, with severance pay behind an NDA, and a very serious and direct threat of litigation for slander if they ever speak out. Make a public announcement that we are merging our offices , and look, we are listening when people told us we have too many people We're putting together a core team , see? Use whatever funds I have left to hire an external team (like Ilfonic, but one that I can more tightly control and monitor) for the sole purpose of converting ships from concept to in-game. Release whatever is made of Squadron 42 for free to all backers, with the sad news that the official "squadron 42'" is cancelled. Say that the game was not up to our standard , and the "thing" we just released for free is proof of that. Throw Erin under the bus. Whatever interviews or press releases he does I can just counter with :" You couldn't make the game. I trusted you. You're upset (butthurt , as Sandi would say) that we fired you for poor performance). Use the above action (firing Erin) as proof of how dedicated we are to the project. "I fired my own brother because he couldn't hack it. What more do you want? " Continue to sell ships to the (probably very minuscule) amount of true believers for as long as I can. Use "Ride to Hell : Retribution" publicity to draw curious onlookers who want to experience the train crash for themselves. All the while, I'm putting together a personal savings account so I can retire from gaming forever. EDIT: Even more serious answer.
