Real talk, Starfield is a good game so far; I daresay a great game. HOWEVER, despite being surprisingly bug free by Bethesda standards, the lack of seamless travel is really disappointing. That said, and I tested this myself, you CAN seamlessly travel between astrological bodies if you want ... it's just gonna take a long rear end time. Elite Dangerous it is not. It honestly does get better the more you play. That said, I am NOT looking forward to crafting/settlement shenanigans. Hasn't come up yet though.

Thing is, most metroidvanias seem to forget that the Metroid franchise are primarily 2-3 hour games, stretched purely by the player's skill level and propensity for 100%ing a game. That's why they're fun. If you drag it out artificially, the experience tends to suffer. I said, speaking from my rear end.

Let me be clear: I've not played more than 5 minutes of Hollow Knight and have no opinion of it. What I meant is that, in my opinion, a good Metroidvania's core content is best when short, while providing tools for the player to explore and extend that time in an emergent sort of way. But many games in this category go too hard and basically make a 2d bloated Ubisoft game (No, not like Rayman) that becomes a chore to run through. For the record, I'm very much a Metroid Stan.

I'm playing it now, and I was trying to explain this to my SO. Jedi Survivor is a lot of fun, really, it is. But there's something about the combat that just doesn't flow right. Dodging for example feels like it has no real feel/rhythm, the aforementioned "I don't react to being hit with a heavy attack all of a sudden" and, given all the options for dealing with being surrounded in the game, I astonished that it still is a pain in the rear end the be shoved into some very tight quarters but surrounded on all sides, and not in a "this is a challenging encounter" kind of way.

BG3 is a good game, nerds. I have yet to play a game that nails tabletop D&D so perfectly. Everyone talks about Divinity or Dragon Age or any other number of CRPGs they think are the same game, but ain't none of them as fun to play, sandboxy, and system driven as this game. And I'm a barbarian, creative for me is throwing a dude at an environmental hazard half a mile away and exploding 6 other dudes, then following that up by tossing a steel chest at the baddie's domepiece. (20 Strength is loving tops!) For me, it's just as fun as all the D&D 2.0 sessions my old squad leader ran back in the Army, and that's a win for me. Sure as hell beats 90% of the bullshit getting released lately.
