There’s part of me that doesn’t want to see Wild Magic unless it’s a different/expanded table. The PHB version is largely uninteresting. But by the same token, any time a player deviates from the standard table, it tends to break the game if not focus it on them. Like the Deck Of Many Things.

Probably not going to get a single thing correct, but excited to watch eventually once timezones and prior engagements finally finish. Maybe December some time? Fingers crossed!

Turns out, not only am I absolutely terrible at maths, I’m about as bad at reading my own schedule. I just have to wait until Saturday morning like it’s a cartoon. So that’s nice.

I’m not as high on Sam’s character as everyone else seems to be, I think. Feels too gimmicky for a main series run; more like a one-shot type character. Not to say he needed to be super-serious, put Liam to shame on the drama department styled character, it’s just stretching my suspension of credible disbelief a bit far. And like a few people I saw comment, I didn’t really mesh well with ExU, so seeing the same characters was a disappointment in a weird way. But I also recognise it’s not my table, and I trust everyone has an idea of what they’re doing to make the characters interesting.

Still going to watch, but it’s more of an uphill battle than the previous campaigns have been, and that’s including C1 starting in the middle of an existing story.

Too-high stats are boring anyway. Much more interesting to be middle-of-the-road and make successes out of that. You could argue that a higher-stat failure has more of a swing behind it, but the odds are in the favour of success, which as an expected outcome is boring.

Of course, I’m known for having bad TTRPG opinions.

True. It’s just an issue I’ve come up against personally for preferring lower stats. Like multiple negatives. The majority of players I’ve interacted with are all about maxing out everything and domination, whereas I enjoy working on stories of growth. And feats are a great way to enable that. You might not be as useful in combat, but it feels like your successful rolls matter more.

And given CR is much more RP over mechanics on average, I could definitely see stat boosts being “neglected” for flavour.

It's been about 30+ years since the end of campaign 1-- I imagine they could do it. I know that campaign two had a "no direct connections" rule, but who knows if three has that.

I would hazard not, given that Orym knows Keyleth and of VM, and Laudna’s from Whitestone at the very least. Depends on how direct they want to be with it, but I don’t think it’s as firm as it was for C2.

Yes to the Clasp, no to Marquet. Most their section mentions is “outside Tal’Dorei”, but that could be in relation to the Myriad spreading from Wildemount.

What do they need diamond dust for? They needed a lot of spell components (or at least FCG wanted them) and I didn't really look up what all spells they were for. If you're worried about revivify, they asked for their travel stipend from Jiana Hexum in diamonds so they do actually have those now. They just don't have dust.

Oh yeah, diamonds are a different component that diamond dust. And Revivify specifically doesn’t need a single diamond (multiple will suffice provided their worth is equivalent), but does require them to be whole, not dust.

I know Vax was the actual first, but that barely counts because of how little time it got.

Would’ve been fascinating to see a cast member have to play a version of their character as portrayed by Yu after Erika killed them and left the show. Obviously the differences in abilities would reveal it mechanically, but who would’ve been the easiest assimilation? Orym maybe?

I mean, it’s not exactly the same, but I know the Army and casinos are prolific advertisers on podcasts with auto-insert ads, so I can see someone having an objection to taking advertising money from them for what they represent, regardless of how much money they offer. And I’m sure there are plenty of other potentially objectionable sources of ad-based revenue.

Plus there’s the whole Wendy’s thing.

So maybe it’s just a thought of “money > anything is not great without due diligence”? But I don’t want to presume someone else’s opinion.

I know I personally can never watch them live (timezones), but even then I found it very hard as a concept to go back to the M9 after their story ended. I also had similar feelings about revisiting VM for the one-shots. Aside from the fanservice/nostalgia aspect (which is a valid thing to do, more or less), that’s not the way my brain processes stories. I don’t know how to best explain it, but I could feel active pushback at the thought of watching.
