Can anyone think of any big roadblock bosses in JRPGs? So far I've come up with Gattuso in Tales of Vesperia, Wiegraf in Final Fantasy Tactics and Grilgan from Lost Odyssey.

The music and graphics are great though for a GBS game, no question.

That and to maybe put a sock in it when it comes to chatter because conversations in a handheld game have no reason to go on for ten minutes when you can gleam onto what to do in two.

Wow, the new Valkyria thing looks pretty neat. I never found myself getting attached to the other ones enough to sit through an LP of them but that looks promising if only because there're no turns anymore and I'm a sucker for a decen-ish action JRPG

The Fire Emblem games are like Xcom Enemy Within, Xcom Enemy Uknown and Xcom 2 levels of lengthy. They share five levels, and even when the maps are the same the objectives are different, and then go on to do their own thing.

But see, I prefer having a story that I don't have to turn my brain off to enjoy. Like Metal Gear Rising. Or Paper Mario 2.

Occasionally, I will though. Like Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. I know it's ca-razy to think that a story could affect whether or not you finish a game but it's certainly happened! See MGSV or The Order 1886.

Yeah, there was all this hype that the game was hard but no one stopped to explain how it's hard though so you end up with people who don't think it's weird that the sword does one damage because 'game is hard!' and because gamers are insufferable all the advice you can find is just 'git gud' so people keep banging against that wall with a hammer handle getting nowhere and come out of it hating the game.

A weirdly obscure RPG that I'd like to have seen keep getting developed (for certain usages of obscure) is actually the Harry Potter series for the GB/GBA. They went and made them full JRPGs and while they had flaws they actually were more interesting than the Gears of Wars clone stuff the franchise ended up as. The last one for the GBA was Golden Sunish but more fun to play than Golden Sun was.

Also hilariously inappropriate to the source material which is something all video game tie-ins should aim for.

Ooh, yeah I remember playing that game a ton. It wasn't too hard aside from a few specific bosses out of nowhere, from what I remember. Like the Whomping Willow. I liked that it just let you cycle the game over and over keeping your levels and spells.

Superstar Saga was the best for team attacks and I'm sad that they didn't continue making new Bros. Attacks.

Only real problem I have with the games is the lack of features for repeatability. Really could've used the ability to skip cutscenes or something.

Good. Maybe then we can bury that stupid censorship wail that goes up any time a woman of any age in a video game is given more clothes to wear.

Plus they'll be able to milk more money out of people by releasing DLC to release body features a single hair at a time.
