WWE will book their weekly shows repetitively no matter what, yes, but the brand split FORCES them to do that by deliberately spreading the roster thin and cannibalizing the midcard to prop up a second "world" title. I was never for bringing the brand split back to begin with, but it seems to have helped their TV deals, so it's probably here to stay at least for the time being.

I'd forgotten Riddick Moss was still even with the company (or still existed TBH), and I literally once attended class with the dude when I was in college. (It was a class with a LOT of people in it and we never talked, but still - he was the middle linebacker on the football team, we all knew who he was).

Just gonna throw this out there as my take on the two standard Fed company lines: "the brand is the star" and "this is storytelling, not wrestling" are mutually incompatible statements. By definition, the characters need to matter if you're telling a story - you need to be invested in the heroes and villains. If you make a deliberate point of ensuring that all the major players are interchangeable bums whose absence has no negative impact, you are not actually interested in telling stories, because you are deliberately fostering an environment in which nothing that happens has emotional weight. You're just having some guys wrestle some other guys with no special meaning behind it. The hilarious thing is, that first clip where Brock goads Sami into having the match tonight actually came off as pretty entertaining, and then it leads to him standing in the ring for 30 minutes to lose in less time than it takes to melt shredded cheese in the microwave.

It's a huge bummer for me. Kevin's a favorite of mine, and I would have liked to have seen him again on a show that I can actually stomach watching. But it ain't my decision to make.
