This isn't life changing like the One True Chili recipe that ToasterBeef (?) shared, but here is my fantastic spag sauce. I don't like runny sauces, this is pretty thicc.

Ingredients:

1.5 lb ground beef
1 lb hot breakfast sausage
2 cloves garlic
1 28oz can whole tomatoes
1 12 oz can tomato paste
2 tbs dried parley
2 tbs dried basil
0.5 tsp salt

Prep:

In large skillet, combine beef, sausage, & garlic. Cook over med-high until browned. Drain about half the fat.

Add the rest of the ingredients and mix. Simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.

And their victory, if they get it, is almost definitely caused by Brexit and the wholesale fuckup of the open border and trade issues it created for Northern Ireland. It would be deeply, deeply ironic if the conservative anti-immigrant xenophobic streak in Britain that led to Brexit, was the thing that led to a northern ireland exit and reunification, finally.

This rules, women in soccer are insanely, like unbelievably underpaid, IIRC currently players in the NWSL (the league that feeds into the USWNT) earn like $35k a year as professional athletes, hopefully this also gives their players some weight to getting that bumped up to anything above literal poverty level pay

LeeMajors posted:

Watching them being out-earned so badly by our lovely men's team was pretty depressing.

Women get paid more than men on the national team (and it's been that way for a long time). It's league pay that's the issue. I don't think this agreement actually fixes that.

LeeMajors posted:

I’m not an expert but wasn’t the pay structure intentionally underpaying them and they made more with endorsements because they *gasp* actually won soccer matches?

That doesn’t absolve the unequal pay.

The women's club soccer league in the US keeps folding/going bankrupt/etc so women got more base salary/healthcare/etc from the national team so they have a stable source of income. A few years ago in my co-ed league, we played against teams that had women's national league players on it. They had joined the league to keep playing because there literally wasn't a women's club league at that time.

For the national team, the men got bigger bonuses because they get their salary/benefits from their club. The endorsement dollars were based on the amount of money each brought in and men's soccer brings in a ton more money.

The best thing for women's soccer would be a stable club league that pays decently, imo.

Current Subarus aren't the same as old Subarus. After they finally had to kill the EJ engines because they couldn't figure out how to get it to meet emissions anymore they became a lot more prone to issues (as you referenced with the head gaskets).

Aw Toyota doesn't have the tax credits anymore? I was kinda eyeing the RAV4 Prime to replace my 2002 Highlander.

If you buy a Toyota before October you still get the full credit. They just hit the 200,000th vehicle so they start unwinding the credit over the course of a year starting the next quarter (10/2022 thru 9/2023). No credit starting in October 2023.

EVs, like almost all cars, are really hard to get right now. The Bolt is probably the best deal even though it no longer qualifies for the federal tax credit. The Leaf is technically cheaper after factoring in the tax credit, but it doesn't have active battery management so the batteries tend to have issues more than other EVs.
