All this talk of the Long War mod makes me wish there was support for mods for this game. I want to try it out but having to run Steam in offline mode or edit my hosts file sounds like a real pain. I just want to play the mod without hassle and switch between it and any vanilla/other mod playthroughs I have going.

Anyone try out the new Covering Fire? I've only had the chance for it to proc once so far, but it was pretty awesome to watch a Sectoid try and take a pot-shot at my sniper only for my support to laser the sectoid's dumb rear end first. Don't know if it's worth it over Sprinter yet though, since running further owns.

Mzbundifund posted:So I know they nerfed Squadsight to get rid of its ability to crit on non-headshots, but even so is there any real reason to take Snapshot now? I mean, sure you get to move and fire on the same turn, but the other three classes already do that so much better, and they don't suffer from an Aim penalty on nearby targets. It seems like it just turns your sniper into a crappy support. What does snapshot really get me that gunslinger doesn't?

The soft panic that AIs display when they are the last member left alive still happens, but they're even more erratic and panicky now. Cream-of-Plenty posted:Is there an easy way to make cover harder to destroy? I know it's possible (because a mod did it for Enemy Unknown), but I'm wondering if it's an .ini file edit to increase the "health" of terrain or whatever that I can do on my own. I had an assault behind full cover who used a shotgun to reaction-fire through a nearby waist-high window, destroy the entire wall in the process, and then get killed...because he no longer had cover. It's one thing if a rocket, grenade, or plasma cannon knocks down a wall, but it's sort of loving stupid when a shotgun or pistol or whatever does it, and then you're immediately punished for it.

There is a reaction range value (iReactionRange) for weapons in the ini, with the shotgun being the only weapon to actually have a value other than -1 (it's set to 27), but I've never messed with it and don't know if it does what you want it to do.
