Not even a millionaire. Also: Here are just a few excerpts of the Libertarian Party platform that David Koch ran on in 1980: “We urge the repeal of federal campaign finance laws, and the immediate abolition of the despotic Federal Election Commission.” “We favor the abolition of Medicare and Medicaid programs.” “We oppose any compulsory insurance or tax-supported plan to provide health services, including those which finance abortion services.” “We also favor the deregulation of the medical insurance industry.” “We favor the repeal of the fraudulent, virtually bankrupt, and increasingly oppressive Social Security system. Pending that repeal, participation in Social Security should be made voluntary.” “We propose the abolition of the governmental Postal Service. The present system, in addition to being inefficient, encourages governmental surveillance of private correspondence. Pending abolition, we call for an end to the monopoly system and for allowing free competition in all aspects of postal service.” “We oppose all personal and corporate income taxation, including capital gains taxes.” “We support the eventual repeal of all taxation.” “As an interim measure, all criminal and civil sanctions against tax evasion should be terminated immediately.” “We support repeal of all law which impede the ability of any person to find employment, such as minimum wage laws.” “We advocate the complete separation of education and State. Government schools lead to the indoctrination of children and interfere with the free choice of individuals. Government ownership, operation, regulation, and subsidy of schools and colleges should be ended.” “We condemn compulsory education laws … and we call for the immediate repeal of such laws.” “We support the repeal of all taxes on the income or property of private schools, whether profit or non-profit.” “We support the abolition of the Environmental Protection Agency.” “We support abolition of the Department of Energy.” “We call for the dissolution of all government agencies concerned with transportation, including the Department of Transportation.” “We demand the return of America’s railroad system to private ownership. We call for the privatization of the public roads and national highway system.” “We specifically oppose laws requiring an individual to buy or use so-called “self-protection” equipment such as safety belts, air bags, or crash helmets.” “We advocate the abolition of the Federal Aviation Administration.” “We advocate the abolition of the Food and Drug Administration.” “We support an end to all subsidies for child-bearing built into our present laws, including all welfare plans and the provision of tax-supported services for children.” “We oppose all government welfare, relief projects, and ‘aid to the poor’ programs. All these government programs are privacy-invading, paternalistic, demeaning, and inefficient. The proper source of help for such persons is the voluntary efforts of private groups and individuals.” “We call for the privatization of the inland waterways, and of the distribution system that brings water to industry, agriculture and households.” “We call for the repeal of the Occupational Safety and Health Act.” “We call for the abolition of the Consumer Product Safety Commission.” “We support the repeal of all state usury laws.”

Lemme lay it out for you suckas: The economy is better than when bush left office, but all that poo poo didn't help you. Unemployment is high and people still ain't gots no insurance. People be more poor than any other time in the modern history of our country. The rich get richer and inequality is at obscene levels. Worse than before the Great Depression. One tenth of one percent owns more than the bottom 90%. 99% of all new income goes to the top 1%. We're being cheated. We make less and work more while those rich fuckers reap the benefits. 14 people got 157 BILLION dollars in the last two years. Kids starve, vets are homeless, old people can't get medicine, and those assholes have an extra $157 billion just laying around. poo poo gets worse though. See those guys can now spend that money to try to buy elections. Just the Koch brothers are going to outspend either one of the main political parties. And their agenda is "gently caress you". The republican politicians are just begging to hop on the train and get some of those sweet sweet dollars. Rich people making money denying climate change=anyone who takes their money doing the same. So what the poo poo do we do? Push for poo poo we can all get behind and fight those assholes before it's too late. What do we want? What concrete policies might help turn this around? How about some jobs? Unemployment is high, like it's really around 11% when you count the poor sad brain fuckers tat gave up. Messed up part is that we have poo poo that needs doing. Roads, bridges, dams, levees, airports, rail, water systems, and wastewater plants could use some serious work. Right now we only work on shot of it kills some people. Patch and pray them roads. We need a serious investment I these things to get them up to date. We put up with so much poo poo because we don't want to put people to work fixing things. Also, this "free trade"/jobs export agreement bullshit needs to go. Weather it's the trans-pacific partnership, permanent normal relations with China, nafta, or kfta, people have lost their jobs to countries that would abuse their people so we can save a couple bucks at the wal-mart. Corporations need to invest here, not over in China. We should also push for more unions. Union jobs pay more, are safer, and lead to people getting treated with more respect. Big boss assholes want to keep unions down. We need stronger laws to keep those fuckers from strong-arming people who want to form a union. Now, you might be asking about raising wages too! That's a good thing. The real value of the minimum wage has decreased in the last 40 years. Inflation is a bitch. The minimum wage should be high enough that nobody who works full time has to live in poverty and go hungry, at a minimum. We also need to be addressing issues of pay equity. There is no reason why people shouldn't get paid equally for working equally. And this bullshit about salaried workers not getting overtime pay has got to go. We need to move the income threshold up a substantial amount, or get rid of the exempt category all together. How about addressing wealth and income inequality? The fact that the richest 400 Americans have more than 2.3 TRILLION in wealth should set off an alarm, that's more than the bottom 150 million Americans combined! Nobody has any extra left for savings, much less retirement. Those motherfuckers need to start paying their fair share of the taxes. Major corporations (GE, Verizon, Citigroup, and j.p. Morgan) don't pay a red cent in taxes, in addition to the $100 billion a year we lose because some pencil neck accountant figured out one weird trick to evade taxes. I'm sure you all know that warren buffet pays a lower effective tax rate than his secretary. That's all kinds of hosed. Rich assholes shouldn't be doing well thanks to their lobbyists and lawyers. This country is in so much poo poo that everyone needs to be pulling their weight. Climate change is going to destroy us if we don't do something, and quick. We have a poo poo load of work to do. Getting away from burning dinosaurs won't be easy, but we have to get a move on. On the plus side, all that work means more jobs. As far as healthcare goes, how about some Medicare for all? Obama care didn't go far enough, and tons of people are still left out in the rain. That's a bunch of bullshit, because if my premiums are going to go up, it better fuckin save everyone. Our poor, seniors, and disabled are struggling to survive. We have the highest level of childhood poverty of any developed nation, and the republicans want to make things worse for these people. We need to get social security back on track and expand it to make sure that people are taken care of. Student loan debt is crazy high. We've got to make college affordable and strive to have the best educated population in the world. How about lower interest rates on student loans and free tuition in public colleges and universities? Basically, we're hosed right now. It's plain as day. Our economic system doesn't work for the vast majority of people, our political system is run by the rich fucks benefiting from the economic system. The media, owned by the same rich fucks, distracts us from the important issues facing us and splits us on wedge issues. Making poo poo better is never easy. Giving up is not an option if we care one iota about our fellow humans, our children, or our grandchildren. Despair is not an option if we care about the future. We must stand and fight back. This country needs a revolution which engages people from all walks of life in the struggle to change things for the better. This country belongs to all of us, not just the 1%. Join the grass roots revolution this country needs.

The first and only time I ever wrote a congressman was after that 8-hour speech he gave to a nearly empty Senate floor just to say "hey thanks for at least acknowledging our hosed up plutocratic system bro." I will for sure vote for him in a primary. There's no way he'd have a chance of winning unless some astronomically wealthy socialist whale comes out of the woodwork. Best case scenario he'd get a debate spot next to all the other shitbags running. He turned it into a book, if you ever want to relive it in text form. I think that if he polls high enough, he will have to be recognized.

From the sandman himself: We're faced with a choice: with some of our country's greatest challenges before us, will we do everything in our power to meet them? The middle class may not last another generation. Working people are struggling to make ends meet, while the greed of billionaires threatens to consume so much of which our country holds dear. We must do all we can to try to change the course of our country. That's why Bernie Sanders is running for President. Will you join our campaign?
