We need more women in STEM, and by that, I mean skateboarding, television, esports, and magic.
I absolutely love that Fern's approach to combat is just to go dakkadakkadakka with magic missile.

It's like if Rock Lee or Vegeta actually got to win; I love it. Give me infinite scenes of Fern's opponents going "oh, this is real standard stuff, yawn, she'll tire herself out soon. ...Soon, yes, it is inevitable. Hmm. Hmm. Why isn't she tiring? Are the attacks actually getting faster, stronger, and more plentiful? Surely this can't last much lo-OH MY GOD I'M DYING"

Also, I'm surprised there aren't any edits of Frieren the Slayer with Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I wonder if actively suppressing your mana output counts as doing magical "work" and counts towards practice and development, because that would mean that Frieren and Fern were pretty much permanently doing a low impact magic workout. They'd be the equivalent of bodybuilders who develop insane core strength via constant reps but don't look yoked
I'm reminded of Goku and Gohan practicing being in the Super Saiyan state 24/7 before the Cell Games.

well that, and to stop caring about what serie sees as bullshit useless magic that doesnt matter.

serie is all about being the bestest wizard ever. she would never take sending or tiny hut for her third level spell slots, only fireball. and she definitely would not have gotten fern's old lovely staff fixed for her

it clearly drives her absolutely nuts that frieren, who doesnt give a poo poo about ULTIMATE MAGICAL POWER, was the one to beat the demon king and not her
I think there's a line though about Serie knowing every spell, thus she's able to give "the privilege" to new first-class mages and grant them whatever spell they desire. I'm not sure how to reconcile that with her statements about certain spells being foolish other than that she's not being honest (with herself or others).

Anyway, I just read the entire thread and here were my favorite posts:

To put it in terms you’ll understand,

Frieren doesn’t have instagram. She doesn’t have tiktok or a Facebook, not tumblr before nor after the yahoo purchase. She never had a MySpace or even an ICQ number. Frieren posted a few choice comments on a Usenet threat once about an obscure topic, and the nerds there took it from there and invented a whole field of murder and defense-against-murder magic.

The last time Frieren posted on social media was to complain about Ghengis Khans invasion, and that involved scrolls.

Meanwhile Kraft made a fortune off of Ea-Nasir’s copper

Of course nobody knows who these people are, they’re characters in stories.

If a guy showed up and told you he was Peter Pan or Rumpelstiltskin you’d have a similar response.

I love Fern just straight up lying to Wirbel. Fern and Frieren's unbeatable tactic of "just loving lie to your opponent"
