The only thing I don't really like about the ending is that Emet-Selch is dead now. I wanted him to stick around and keep being evil. He was by far the best villain/antagonist the game has had. Like, I get why he needed to die, what with being directly opposed to the Scions goals and wanting to kill everyone and all, but he was compelling in a way the other Ascians and Zenos aren't. I didn't care about Zenos to begin with and I care even less now. The only way I'd be interested in that is if he's not the main bad guy going forward. I don't expect the writers to pull a Vegeta and make him join the team or whatever, but it would be more interesting if he's not going to be directly antagonistic to the WoL this time around. They should probably add a little more character to Elidibus too.

Unrelatedly, end of MSQ spoilers: I'm totally cool with Emet-Selch being killed off and don't want him to come back. His arc was great and he's the best antagonist the series has had by a considerable margin, but I wouldn't want his arc to continue. Like, I'd love to listen to him talk and snark more. Where I land though is that I think this is a place where "leave the crowd wanting for more" is the right play. Someone like him could so easily wear out his welcome with prolonged exposure.

I agree with your overall point that Emet’s arc is great as it is and adding more is not always a good idea. I just liked having a good villain for a change instead of one who’s just “I want to kill everyone because I’m evil”, which is basically what the other ascians have been up until now. Now that they’ve established more of their backstory and why they’re doing what they’re doing hopefully Elidibus and whoever else will get some actual characterization. I’m interested in where they’ll take the “WoL is an ascian and probably summoned Hydaelyn” plot too. The WoL creating god is a lot cooler than the other way around.

In regards to the scions, I’ve been assuming there’s a good chance Thancred ends up staying on the First. I figure getting everyone back to the Source is going to be easier said than done and I think Thancred deciding to stay would be more interesting thematically. Plus it gives us more gameplay reasons to go back there and check in on them.

I like the role playing fights as a concept but a lot of them end up being kind of boring because they take forever and you only have four buttons. But it’s a way for us to be more involved in the story when the WoL isn’t there instead of just watching a bunch of cutscenes.

I’m going to disagree with everyone and say yes, assuming you actually want to craft. I wouldn’t say it’s “worthwhile” necessarily, there are much better and easier ways to get gear starting out. But if you’re interested in crafting/gathering then you might as well unlock them now and you can slowly level them up via GC turn-ins and leves. That makes a lot more sense to me than waiting until you’re max level to start and then having to blast through everything.

Yes.

”The truth” meaning that they’re in a dream Amarout, not the real one. That character is the only one who realizes this Amarout is just a replica from Emet-Selch’s memories. A memory isn’t ever going to be 100% truthful or accurate. And multiple other NPCs mention the 14th member, so Emet isn’t trying to hide it from you.

People make fun of Minfilia's outfit a lot, but Alphinaud and Alisaie's original clothes are definitely the weirdest in the game. The thigh and ribcage gaps (why?), the combination leggings and wedges, it's all just very strange.

Stormblood spoilers Its also not true that Yugiri was originally going to die in Stormblood, but due to the murder they rewrote it. this is another rumor that they've directly debunked.

Yeah, I hear that sometimes, but it doesn't really make any sense when you think about how the game is produced. What happened to the VA was terrible, but SE isn't going to suddenly remove a character from the story because one of the VAs for her died. They routinely leave out major characters for long periods of time anyway, so it's not anything unusual.

In regards to complaints about MSQ padding, there is definitely quite a bit of it especially earlier on in the game. That’s not a controversial opinion among anyone, including the devs. But at a certain point it’s like well, this is still an MMO after all, what are you really expecting? If HW still has too much padding for someone’s taste then I don’t think they’re going to like the rest of the game much better. But yeah, mainlining the entire game all at once is going to be a vastly different experience than playing the MSQ when it comes out. A fetch quest isn’t that big of a deal when you do it once every 3-4 months.

Adding all the optional dungeons and trials to the MSQ sounds like a really bad idea that would add a ton of extra time just from queuing. But I like the suggestion someone had about adding an NPC that can point you in the right direction for cool optional stuff because some of them are pretty easy to miss.

I'd say the only real problem with RDM is that it starts you at level 50 but then doesn't even give you a hint what you're supposed to be doing with all of these skills it started you with. I was really lucky that a teammate in my first dungeon noticed that I was slowcasting Veraero and Verthunder and pointed out the actual cycle to me, because the game sure didn't and I didn't know I wasn't supposed to be doing that!

The game does tell you that though. The trainer in the 50 job quest talks about using dualcast with the slower spells to make them instant.

My issue when first trying to set up an SE account for the game was that I already had a account from years ago that I had never used and totally forgotten about. SE, unlike every other account creation site in existence, won’t give you a “this email is already connected to an account” message or any sort of indication that you already have one. So I’d put in all my registration info and it would accept it and tell me to click on the confirmation link in the email but it would never actually send an email. This was super frustrating and I only remembered I had an old account after googling and discovering a bunch of others with the same issue.
