Who decides the nominee? I always thought politicians in American parties decided on a nominee, so if the Republicans don't want Trump, they could just nominate someone else. All this talk about the Republicans running scared of Trump seems to indicate that the people do the voting instead.

Spoilered because episode VII:

In contrast I left Episode VII hoping that Kylo Ren is actually NOT the villain for the rest of the series - that he's more of a slightly extended Darth Maul and gets killed off quickly in the VIII. He was straight up bumbling in places and that made him kind of a weak villain. The stuff with Rey just sort of compounds it. He's had all this training and is all "you need a teacher - let me teach you!" during the light saber duel - which is literally her first time lighting up a saber - and she's basically winning. That line sounded so stupid since she was basically kicking his rear end already.

Also spoilered because episode VII:

I think that was the point of him, actually. He's trying so hard to be Vader that it eventually backfires on him. Hopefully in Episodes 8-9 he becomes the villain he's supposed to be.

Sorry, my head's a little foggy (not a lot of sleep, nor food for quite a while), but what's so freude-y about that? Sure, SC backers might be miffed that they're being labeled cash cows or whatever, but couldn't this be a good thing? If a guy's donated $40k for pretend spaceships, then any sensible company should bend over backward to accommodate him. Of course, this is Star Citizen we're talking about, so there's that, but in any other circumstance I suppose someone would be happy a company thinks of him as a valued customer. If I were in that guy's shoes, I'd remind the company of that fact every time I asked for a concrete release date.

Actual Age of Sigmar Rules:

quote:

Pride of the Reiksguard: Helborg’s skill is as legendary as his moustache is magnificent. You can re-roll any failed hit rolls when attacking with the Runefang so long as you have a bigger and more impressive moustache than your opponent.

And He Did Say 'War', And The World Did Tremble...: If Settra the Imperishable uses this ability, you must hold out your hand and utter 'War' in a supremely commanding tone. If you do, then until your next Hero phase you can add 1 to all hit rolls for Death units in your army that are within 18" of Settra during the combat phase. If a Deathrattle unit is affected by this ability, you can also had 1 to their wound rolls in the combat phase. However, if Settra is your general, you must not kneel for any reason during the battle. If you do, even once, you immediately lose the battle. Settra does not kneel!

One Bat Short of a Belfry
: Konrad is a violent lunatic, and his temper does little to help his stretched sanity. If, during your hero phase, you talk to Konrad von Carstein, you can re-roll all hit rolls of 1 for him until your next hero phase. If Konrad von Carstein talks back to you, reroll all failed hit rolls instead.

The Mad Count
: Marius Leitdorf is an exceptional swordsman, even if he is totally insane. If, during your hero phase, you pretend to ride an imaginary horse, you can re-roll failed hit rolls for the Averland Runefang until your next hero phase. If you actually talk to your imaginary horse you can re-roll failed wound rolls as well.

To be honest, I can kind of see the reason behind the madness, in that GW might be trying to recapture its halcyon days as a silly tabletop wargame, with 80's hair metal elves and Inquisitor Sherlock Obiwan Clouseau- it's just that these rules would be silly even by those days' standards, and the models are still hellishly expensive.

fullroundaction posted:

Did Warhammer invent the (more recent equivalent of) mobile game pay-to-win model? I can't think of any major examples before it.

Kind of, I think? Part of it's just the nature of the beast when it comes to tabletop model wargames- you'd exhaust your customer base pretty drat sharpish if you didn't introduce new rules and models every so often, but GW really ran with it and started getting crazy, never seeming to realize that they were just a big fish in a small pool. Once other forms of entertainment really started taking off, GW's chances of success began to shrink.

The utterly sad thing is, had they simply shut up about everything and let things slide, Jim would've just moved on to the next lovely asset flip. Sure, odds are he'd stumble onto another DH trash fire, but at least he wouldn't actively be digging into things. Seriously, of all the people who'd be offended due to artistic pride, the DH guys are the ones I'd least suspect, and the ones who least deserve, to be so.
